Interesting that CBD appeared to reduced psychotic symptoms and apparently caused a trend toward improved performance on cognitive tasks. I have a son (56) presently in a hospital with long term schizoaffective disorder. Medication does help, but occasionally the psychotic symptoms break through. I plan to send this article to my son's doctor. Any comment?

Hi Barbara, I’m also the mother of a son with schizoaffective disorder, on multiple high dose meds with breakthrough symptoms. I’d be very interested in hearing your son’s response if he did have a CBD trial (I know it’s not “data” but would still appreciate hearing. Wishing you both the best.

I spoke with a Pharmacist friend of mine about if CBD helped with migraines and things related to the brain. He said there have been positive signs in testing that it can help (not sure if he said the brain has CBD receptors - but that would be key). If the brain does have CBD receptors, there's a chance it might help your son's condition, but he said that the dosage of CBD will probably have to be pretty high in order to break through the blood / brain barrier.
