Question:
Now that it was shown that Ginkgo biloba is not an effective memory enhancer, are there any other health enhancing benefits from taking it, and, if so, what dose should one take daily?

Answer:
As discussed in the "What It Does" section of the Ginkgo Supplements Review, it is true that most evidence indicates no significant benefit for Ginkgo biloba in preventing or treating Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. In healthy individuals, it may modestly improve limited aspects of memory and cognition — although this evidence comes from small, company-funded studies. 

There is some evidence that ginkgo may reduce the frequency of attacks of Raynaud's disease and may decrease symptoms of vertigo and vestibular disturbances. The dose and type of ginkgo used in each of these conditions is noted in the "What to Consider When Using" section of the Review — which includes ConsumerLab's tests and comparisons of marketed Gingko biloba supplements.

From personal experience, selenium improves cognition. Brazil nuts are a good source of natural selenium. I am a transcriber and for many years have noted that when I have higher levels of selenium I can type faster and more accurately.
