Does Serrapeptase Work?

Question:
What is serrapeptase and does it work?

Answer:
Serrapeptase, also called serratiopeptidase, serratiapeptase or serralysin, is a proteolytic enzyme, meaning that it breaks down proteins. Touted for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, it is promoted as a dietary supplement as an alternative to NSAIDS, like ibuprofen, and for conditions ranging from sinusitis and joint pain to cardiovascular health. I had bad toothache went to the dentist and had it filled but the toothache was worse than ever when the anaesthetic wore off .i was back at the dentist getting the rest of my work done i told him about my tooth. he said it was a rather large filling and he wasn't surprised it was still causing toothache he gave me a choice have root canal treatment or it removed. I told him i would decide for when I was back for the rest of my treatment that i could live with the pain until then due to the fact that I was taking cocodamil every 4 hours. I started taking synvit serrapeptase 2 tabs at 250, 000iu enteric coated first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Half an hour later I would take 3 turmeric 1, ,400mg with 10mg black pepper from Oxford vitality with food for the week till going back to the dentist i had no pain and the swelling had went a way i told the dentist to leave the tooth i kept taking the above supplements for another week then halved the dose of serrapeptase for another 2 weeks with the full dose of turmeric now i just take the turmeric for the fact i think it's a great supplement i have no problem with my tooth and that's been about six months now.

Nine years ago I was diagnosed with rapid heart beat, heart arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, enlarged heart, and excessively high cholesterol. I was told that if I did not start taking a blood thinner, cholesterol lowering medication, and heart medication, I would probably suffer a stroke or heart attack in the near future – as my condition was not good. To make a long story short, after talking to a person whose knowledge of medicine is great – I was told to start taking Serrapeptase and nattomax, along with some other supplements for heart, cholesterol, and high-blood sugar. I take 120,000 units of Serrapeptase a day along with 100mg of nattomax. My blood pressure is normal, my cholesterol is normal, my blood sugar is normal, I realize that each human is a different chemical factory. For me – this stuff works – for others, it might not.

My dad is a smoker and was wheezing so loud you could hear him across the room, unable to lay down flat, couldn't breathe, he was taken by ambulance to hospital but refused to stay any longer after the second day we checked out against doctors orders and he started taking 120,000 3 times a day away from food and he was better in a week, he now is on one at night for maintenance. No more hospitals, still smokes but no more congestion. Doctors Best is the brand we used.

I took 120,000 units for several years and it cured my reynauds syndrome which is proof enough for me it does have an effect, however on having a blood test it was discovered my blood count was on the low side of normal which may explain why i had become susceptible to the common cold.It did thin my blood about .3 on the i.n.r scale so i take less warfarin to compensate as i have atrial fribulation which needs the blood thinning. If you do take it try the enteric type coating a week on a week off to allow for any possible side effects.

I have taken it for several years. I use Fibrozym because it is enteric coated. It has cured fibrotic breast disease, removed a lot of scar tissue under skin from surgery and markedly reduced pain in joints.

IT works! I was taking it to clean the plaque out of my arteries so I was taking 120,000 units in 1 pill early am. Within 3 days I noticed my arthritis was almost gone and I wasn't even taking it for that symptom. My doctor recommends it for allergy symptoms and pain relief but a much lower dosage. My general surgeon recommends it because it eats up scar tissue. Its a wonderful enzyme.

Thanks Lisa. Did you take the enteric coated Serrapeptase? What brand did you take?

Lisa669   April 15, 2015
I have 2 different doctors who recommend this supplement. One, is my general surgeon who recommends it to surgical patients as serrapeptase eats up scar tissue, and my internist recommends it for allergies and pain.

Lisa,
Could you please say what brand you took?

Steve8108   November 29, 2015
I'm not Lisa, but after my pain management guy suggested this, we settled on Doctor's Best brand, 40,000 Units or the higher dose of 120,000 but only once a day. My anecdotal evidence has no backing, but I believe my overall inflammation is lower when I take this. YMMV.
