Question:
Is it true that I should not keep magnesium supplements in a daily pill pack mixed with other supplements and medicines?

Answer:
If you are using magnesium chloride, it should be kept in a well-sealed container away from all types of other pills, as explained in the ConsumerTips section of Magnesium Supplements Review >>

While taking CALM and Magnesium Glyconate for twitches and leg cramps - I get long lasting - a few days - diarrhea. Is there a way to counteract this uncomfortable reaction?

ConsumerLab.com   August 21, 2017
Hi Ruth - Most forms of magnesium can have a laxative effect, although some may be less likely to cause diarrhea than others. Please see "Choosing the right form of magnesium" in the Magnesium Supplements Review: https://www.consumerlab.com/reviews/_/magnesium/#forms

Natalie, my favorite mag is Natural Calm - mag citrate powder. Comes in different flavors and the lowest price I have found is on Amazon. Very easy to control the dose. Take it at night with calcium. Does not upset my stomach, easily absorbed. Due to meds that are constipating I use more than the norm but it is a terrific laxative. If I have to, I can mix it with Miralax as well. You know you have too much on board if you get diarrhea. Also helps with sleep and leg cramps. No financial interest in this company.

Doubt that the restriction applies to enteric coated Magnesium Chloride

ConsumerLab.com   June 3, 2016
Hi Henry - They may be less problematic but it's hard to say. You can leave a pill out for several days in a humid environment and see if it changes.

can you comment on whether it is OK to keep other forms of magnesium supplements (other than magnesium chloide) mixed in with other supplements. Specifically I take amino acid chelated magnesium. Thanks

Hi Natalie - This is addressed in the linked section of the review: https://www.consumerlab.com/reviews/_/magnesium/#humidity

Thanks sorry - didn't see the last line. So the other forms are OK to store with your other pills

Yes

This answer only deals with magnesium that is combined with chloride. What about other preparations such as oxide or malate?

ConsumerLab.com   June 1, 2016
Hi Frank - As noted to Natalie above, this is addressed in the linked section of the review.
