Question:
I have been having dizziness for the past few months and am wondering if it could be a side effect of supplements I take. Which supplements cause dizziness?

Answer:
Dizziness has been reported as potential side effect of using supplements such as garlic, melatonin, saw palmetto, red yeast rice, policosanol and black cohosh. Vertigo, a particular form of dizziness, has been reported with the use of some weight loss supplements that contain stimulants, such as caffeine.

On the other hand, there is evidence that Ginkgo biloba may improve symptoms of vertigo. Vitamin D may improve balance and reduce the risk of falls in older adults.

What supplements were you taking?

Just a thought: I had low blood pressure, and dizziness often upon rising out of a chair or bed, and it went away when I increased my salt intake (unprocessed salt, like Redmond). My blood pressure went up to safe levels after that.

I had moderately low blood pressure which became considerably lower after long-term use of CoQ-10, causing me intermittent spells of dizziness. After quitting CoQ-10 and some prescription meds that also have the side-effect of lowering BP, I returned to normal. The fact that Co!-10 lowers BP is usually a good thing, but I had to discontinue it.
