CONSUMERLAB.COM ANNOUNCES FIRST TEST-BASED BUYER'S GUIDE TO DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS
— MANUFACTURERS ENCOURAGED TO HAVE PRODUCTS TESTED FOR POTENTIAL INCLUSION —

WHITE PLAINS, NY, April 24, 2000 - ConsumerLab.com announced today that it is developing the first consumer guide to dietary supplements to be based on comprehensive independent laboratory testing of popular supplements sold in the U.S. The ConsumerLab.com Buyer's Guide to Dietary Supplements will be of great assistance to the 158 million Americans who purchase herbal, mineral, vitamin, and other supplements, as well as to healthcare professionals and retailers. ConsumerLab.com's test results have been widely cited in the media but been generally available only online at www.consumerlab.com and at other licensed Web sites. "With the explosion of interest in ConsumerLab.com's results, we have received many requests from people who want our information but lack Web access," stated Tod Cooperman, M.D., President of ConsumerLab.com. "The printed Buyer's Guide will effectively bring ConsumerLab.com's product reviews to these and millions of other people."

ConsumerLab.com conducts the largest independent testing of dietary supplements sold in the U.S.— where such products are not regulated as drugs and many have been shown to be of questionable quality. To date, approximately one-third of the products purchased and evaluated by ConsumerLab.com has not met its quality standards. The Buyer's Guide will feature ConsumerLab.com's test results and Lists of Approved Quality Products for most of the popular types of dietary supplements sold in the U.S., including calcium, chondroitin, CoQ10, creatine, echinacea, garlic, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, glucosamine, multivitamins, SAMe, saw palmetto, St. John's wort, and vitamin C. The Buyers Guide will also provide detailed information about each approved product and its manufacturer or distributor.

ConsumerLab.com is in negotiations with several companies regarding publication and distribution rights and expects the Buyer's Guide to be available by year-end in supermarkets, drug stores, health food stores, bookstores, and through direct mail.

Manufacturers Invited to Have Products Tested:
While the majority of popular brands of supplements are already being evaluated in ConsumerLab.com's testing, manufacturers of additional products in the categories listed above are invited to have their products tested for potential inclusion in ConsumerLab.com's Lists of Approved Quality Products. This additional testing is conducted through ConsumerLab.com's Ad Hoc Testing Program in which products are independently purchased and tested by ConsumerLab.com at the request of manufacturers that pay a testing fee.

ConsumerLab.com publishes independent reviews and consumer information about health, wellness, and nutrition products. It conducts the largest independent testing of dietary supplements sold in the U.S. ConsumerLab.com's flask-shaped Seal of Approved Quality is licensed to manufacturers and distributors to use on products that have passed testing, which are periodically re-evaluated. The company is privately held and headquartered in White Plains, New York. It is not affiliated with companies that manufacture, distribute, or sell consumer products. Parties interested in licensing content or requesting testing of additional products may contact Lisa Sabin, Vice President for Business Development, at lisa.sabin@consumerlab.com.
