Prairie Wolf Hand Sanitizer Recalled
On June 21, 2021, Prairie Wolf Spirits, Inc. recalled all lots of Prairie Wolf Distillery hand sanitizer packaged in 16.9 fluid ounce and 20 fluid ounce containers that resemble water bottles because the products pose a risk of ingestion.
Hand sanitizers can be toxic if ingested, and can cause lack of coordination, slowed or slurred speech, drowsiness, coma, or death. Children may also experience decreased blood sugar which may lead to death. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy can lead to birth defects and developmental disabilities, and consumption during nursing can also lead to impaired development.
The FDA first warned consumers about hand sanitizers that are packaged in food and drink containers in September of 2020.
Recalled Prairie Wolf Distillery hand sanitizer hand sanitizer products (see images) were distributed to selected customers and consumers nationwide in the U.S., sold from a temporary retail location in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and through limited sales on the manufacturer's website. The products were also donated from the Prairie Wolf Spirits warehouse. They can be identified by the following:
- Prairie Wolf Distillery hand sanitizer (16.9 oz.), UPC 6000331899
- Prairie Wolf Distillery hand sanitizer (20 oz.), UPC 6000365984
Individuals who have recalled Prairie Wolf hand sanitizers should stop using them and return them to the Prairie Wolf Spirits distillery.
