The bad news — one product that we tested had only 46% of the magnesium claimed on its label. The good news — unlike our findings in 2005, none of the recently tested magnesium supplements was contaminated with lead.

Magnesium supplements may help prevent migraine headaches (including menstrual migraines), menstrual pain, PMS, and leg cramps during pregnancy. It has other potential uses and, of course, prevents and treats magnesium deficiencies.

There are many forms of magnesium to choose from, such as chelate, chloride, citrate, gluconate, glycinate, L-aspartate HCl, lysinate, oxide, sulfate, and taurate. You'll want to choose the one that's best for you with the least potential side-effects. And, of course, you'll want to choose a product that has all the ingredient it claims.

In this Review, you'll get ConsumerLab's test results and comparisons for twenty-one products (including magnesium-only and magnesium/calcium combinations) and information about three products similar to those that passed.
