FDA Raids Online Retailer for Supplements with Steroids

According to an article in The New York Times, federal authorities raided the headquarters and a warehouse of BodyBuilding.com in Boise, Idaho on September 24, 2009. The raid was part of an ongoing effort by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to target companies that are selling steroids as dietary supplements. According government documents, 26 of 31 products purchased by the FDA as part of its investigation tested positive for at least one steroid.

As reported in ConsumerLab.com's Recalls and Warnings on July 29, the FDA has warned consumers not to use body-building products sold as nutritional supplements because they might contain steroids or steroid-like substances.
