FDA Warns Seller of Almased Weight Loss Product of Marketing Violations

On January 18, 2011, the U.S. FDA sent a Warning Letter to Almased USA regarding legal violations in its marketing of its Almased product (Almased Synergy Diet).

According to the FDA, the Almased product is promoted with claims reserved for drugs, while Almased is not an recognized as a safe and effective drug. Furthermore, the product is offered for conditions that are not amenable to self-diagnosis and treatment by individuals who are not medical practitioners.

The FDA cites claims made by the company on its website and in a booklet "The Weight Loss Program" relating to the treatment of diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol with Almased.
