Three More Sexual Enhancement Supplements Found To Contain Undeclared Drugs

On April 3, 2013, the FDA warned consumers that the sexual enhancement supplements AFFIRM XL, Love Rider and Ninja Mojo were found to contain undeclared erectile dysfunction drugs. Consumers are urged to stop using these supplements immediately.

AFFIRM XL, distributed by AFFIRM XL LLC, contains ginseng, Tribulus terrestris, royal jelly, ginkgo biloba, L-Proline, Trichilia catigua, saw palmetto, Bombyx mori, Ganoderma lucidum, maca root, Korean black raspberry, niacin and L-arginine. It was promoted for sexual enhancement and sold on various websites, including including www.affirmxl.com.

FDA laboratory analysis found that AFFIRM XL also contains undeclared sulfoaildenafil, which is similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in an FDA approved prescription drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. This drug can cause symptoms like headache and flushing, and can interact with medications containing nitrates such as nitroglycerine, resulting in dangerously low blood pressure.

Love Rider, distributed by Nutratech Inc., contains epimedium sagittatum, coleus forskohlii, maca extract, ginkgo leaf extract, niacin, stinging nettle, cnidium monnieri, tongkat ali, zinc, tribulus terrestris, catuaba, xanthoparmelia scabrosa and L-arginine. It was promoted for sexual enhancement and sold on various websites and in some retail stores.

FDA laboratory analysis found that Love Rider also contains undeclared tadalafil, an FDA-approved active pharmaceutical ingredient in the prescription erectile dysfunction drug Cialis. Like sildenafil, tadalafil can cause headaches and flushing, and interact with medications containing nitrates such as nitroglycerin, resulting in dangerously low blood pressure.

Ninja Mojo, distributed by Ninja America Inc., contains niacin, horny goat weed, maca root extract, polyrhachis vicina roger, deer velvet antler, cordyceps sinensis, rhizoma polygonati, angelica and desert living cistanche. It was promoted for sexual enhancement and sold on various websites and in some retail stores.

It was also found to contain undeclared tadalafil.
