FDA Warns Consumers of Sexual Enhancement Supplements Containing Prescription Drugs

On June 10, 2013, the FDA warned consumers that a number of sexual enhancement supplements have been found to contain undeclared drugs such as sildenafil and tadalafil.

Sildenafil, the active ingredient the prescription drug Viagra, and tadalafil, the active ingredient prescription drug Cialis, are typically prescribed for erectile dysfunction. These drugs can cause symptoms like headache and flushing, and can interact with medications containing nitrates such as nitroglycerine, resulting in dangerously low blood pressure.

Reload was found to contain undeclared sildenafil. It was sold on various websites, including www.reloadpill.com, and in some retail stores.

Nights to Remember was found to contain undeclared sildenafil. It was sold on various websites and in some retail stores.

X Zen Platinum was found to contain undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil. It was sold on various websites, including www.ebay.com and in some retail stores.

Super Cheetah was found to contain sildenafil. It was sold on various websites, including www.bonanza.com, and in some retail stores.

Get It Up was found to contain sildenafil. It was sold on various websites, including www.ebay.com and in some retail stores.

Cave Diver was found to contain sildenafil. It was sold on various websites, including www.bonanza.com, and in some retail stores.

Consumers who have purchased these supplements should discontinue use immediately and contact their healthcare provider if they have experienced any adverse side effects.
