Maker of Herbal Capsules and Extracts Warned for Manufacturing Violations

On September 19, 2013, the FDA issued a warning letter to Herbalist and Alchemist, Inc. following a facility inspection which found the company's supplements, including Lung Relief Anti-Spasmodic, Kidney Relief, Men's Prostate Tonic, Women's Anti-Spasmodic Compound, Pancreaid, Immune Adapt, and Thyroid Calmpound, to be adulterated because they were prepared, packed, or held under conditions that violate Current Good Manufacturing Practices for dietary supplements.

These violations include failure to perform at least one appropriate test or examination to verify the identity of any component that is a dietary ingredient before use, and failure to establish product specifications for the purity, strength, and composition of finished batches of dietary supplement products.
