Nutrition Bars Recalled Due to Allergen Risk

On March 27, 2014, Clif Bar & Company issued a voluntary recall of a small number of 15-count boxes of Chocolate Chunk LUNA Bars because they contain undeclared macadamia nut butter.

People with an allergy to macadamia nuts should not consume these bars as they could cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

Chocolate Chunk LUNA Bars wrappers do contain an allergy advisory on the label, which states that the product may contain traces of other tree nuts, but does not list macadamia nut butter in this advisory, or in the ingredient list.

The recall affects only Chocolate Chunk LUNA Bar 15-count boxes and individual bars with the following identifying information:

  • Bar UPC: 7-22252-10068-9
  • 15-Count Box UPC: 7-22252-20068-6
  • 'Best By' Dates: 11NOV14, 14OCT14
