Six Sexual Enhancement Supplements Found to Contain Hidden Drugs

On June 2, 2014, the FDA warned consumers not to buy or use the six sexual enhancement supplements listed below because they were found to contain undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil, or other drugs which are chemically similar.

Sildenafil, the active ingredient the prescription drug Viagra, and tadalafil, the active ingredient in the prescription drug Cialis, are typically prescribed for erectile dysfunction. These drugs can cause symptoms like headache and flushing, and can interact with medications containing nitrates such as nitroglycerine, resulting in dangerously low blood pressure.

  • Dick's Hard Up was sold on various websites and in some retail stores. It was found to contain tadalafil.
  • GoldReallas was sold on various websites and in some retail stores. It was found to contain sildenafil and thiosildenafil.
  • Full Throttle On Demand was sold on various websites, including overstock.com, and in some retail stores. It was found to contain propoxyphenyl sildenafil.
  • Liu Bian Li was sold on various websites and in some retail stores. It was found to contain sildenafil.
  • 3 Hard Knights was sold on various websites and in some retail stores. It was found to contain sildenafil and thiosildenafil.

  • Eyeful was sold on various websites and in some retail stores. It was found to contain hydroxythiohomosildenafil.

Consumers who have purchased these supplements should discontinue use immediately and contact their healthcare provider if they have experienced any adverse side effects. Consumers and healthcare providers are also encouraged to report any adverse reactions to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program.
