Maker of Herbal Supplements Sold on eBay, Amazon and Other Websites Shut Down

On August 17, 2015, a federal court ordered a permanent injunction against dietary supplement company Iowa Select Herbs LLC for unlawfully manufacturing and distributing unapproved new drugs and misbranded drugs and adulterated and misbranded dietary supplements.

The company claimed its products could treat medical conditions such as cancer, malaria, herpes and heart disease. They were sold online at http://stores.iowaselectherbs.com/ and other websites such as eBay, Amazon and buy.com, as well as in a retail store Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The FDA issued Iowa Select Herbs a warning letter in 2014, citing numerous manufacturing violations and drug claims which the company failed to correct.

In order to re-open, Iowa Select Herbs will be required to recall their drugs and dietary supplements, hire labeling and manufacturing practices experts, and receive written permission to resume operations from the FDA.
