Seller of Vision Supplements Warned for Drug Claims

On April 28, 2016, the FDA issued a warning letter to Macular Health, LLC., following a review of the company's website which found statements made about MacuStrip, Visual Advantage AREDS II Formula, Visual Advantage Premier Formula, Antioxidant Only Genetic Formula, Zinc Only Genetic Formula, Low Dose Zinc Genetic Formula, Blephadex Eyelid Wipes, Blephadex Eyelid Foam, and Visual Advantage Dry Eye Formula to be drug claims.

Visual Advantage Dry Eye Formula was promoted with statements such as "Our new dry eye formula can help to reduce dry eye symptoms, including burning, stinging, redness and intermittent visual disturbances".  

Visual Advantage AREDS II Formula was promoted with statements such as "The study proven vitamin that doctors have been recommending for macular degeneration for years," and "The Macular Health AREDS II formula is based upon the groundbreaking age-related eye disease study sponsored by the National Eye Institute (NEI)."  

Visual Advantage Premier Formula was promoted with statements such as "Macular Health's Visual Advantage now offers genotype-directed nutraceuticals for macular degeneration."
