Chinese Herbal Supplement With Lead Contamination Recalled

On November 7, 2016, Ton Shen Health issued a recall its Life Rising brand of Side Head Regulator TT tablets because they were found to contain elevated levels of lead for children under the age of 18.

Exposure to lead, even at low levels, is associated with neurological impairment, and in children, learning disabilities and lower IQ scores. Lead can accumulate in the body over time. Symptoms of lead toxicity include abdominal pain, headache, changes in blood pressure, dizziness, kidney and brain damage.

Recalled Side Head Regulator TT tablets are labeled as a Chinese herbal supplement. They were distributed in Chicago-area retail stores and in other states through mail order. They are packaged in 1.6 oz. white plastic bottle and bear the UPC 616042101010.

Consumers who have purchased this product should not use it and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The company recalled its DHZC-2 tablets due to contamination with lead in August 2016.
