Oat Cereal Recalled Due to Listeria Risk

On July 18, 2017, Garden of Light, Inc., recalled Woodstock Organic Matcha Vanilla Oats because of potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. In women who are pregnant, Listeria monocytogenes can cause miscarriage and stillbirths. Infection with Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. 

Recalled Woodstock Organic Matcha Vanilla Oats was distributed nationwide in retail stores. It is packaged in a 1.8 oz. cup with a green film lid and can be identified by the following:

  • UPC Code: 0-42563-01786-6
  • Best Buy Date Code: "SELL BY MAY 11 2018"
