Gaia's Whole Healing Essentials Warned for Colloidal Silver Coronavirus Claims

On April 1, 2020, the FDA issued a warning letter to Gaia's Whole Healing Essentials, LLC, for selling products with unsupported claims that they can treat coronavirus (COVID-19).

The company was promoting colloidal silver products with statements such as "Coronavirus~Using Colloidal Silver to... Boost Your Immune system... Colloidal silver is the key to protecting yourself from the corona virus. It is recommended to take colloidal silver at least 3 times a day to keep your immune system functioning to its highest capacity. Also, if you begin to show symptoms of the virus, up your doses to 5 times a day."

The FDA emphasized that there are currently no approved treatments for the virus stating: "For COVID-19, no such study is currently known to exist for the products identified above."

The agency instructed the companies to send an email to COVID-19-Task-Force-CDER@fda.hhs.gov within 48 hours of receipt of the warning, describing the specific steps they have taken to correct these violations.
