Fiber Supplement Recalled for Salmonella Risk

On April 13, 2020, Break Ventures/California Basics issued a recall of one lot of Zero for Him fiber supplement because recent testing found it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella is an organism that has been linked to fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly adults, and people with weakened immune systems. In healthy adults, Salmonella can produce fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, Salmonella infection can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Recalled Break Ventures/California Basics Zero for Him fiber supplement was distributed nationwide through Amazon. This product comes in a 400cc, Light Amber PETE bottle. It can be identified by the following:
  • Zero for Him 150ct. Lot #1710-638. Expiration date: November 2020.
Consumers who have any of this affected product should not consume it and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or throw it away.

Production of the product has been suspended while the FDA continues its investigation.
