Seller of CBD Tinctures and "Immune Boost Packs" Warned for Coronavirus Claims

On June 18, 2020, the FDA issued a warning letter to Project 1600 Inc. for selling CBD products with unsupported claims that they can treat coronavirus (COVID-19).

The agency emphasized that there are currently no approved treatments for the virus and has previously stated: "There currently are no vaccines, pills, potions, lotions, lozenges or other prescription or over-the-counter products available to treat or cure coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The product DML Power Pack was promoted with statements such as "NEW! DML POWER PACK, 3000mg CBD TINCTURE... DML's newest product is a CBD tincture that is a major game changer for people who want to feel great again and build the immune system." DML CBD: Immune Boost Pack was promoted with statements such as "DML CBD aims to help our customers in an attempt to boost the immune system... Studies suggest that CBD can help fight off inflammation, boost the immune system, and help battle against certain harmful bacteria. Some research suggests it can help suppress the cytokine storm inside the body that can cause great illness and sometimes death."

The FDA instructed the companies to send an email to COVID-19-Task-Force-CDER@fda.hhs.gov within 48 hours of receipt of the warning, describing the specific steps they have taken to correct these violations.
