Allergy Bee Nasal Swabs Recalled Due to Potential Contamination With Yeast, Mold & Bacteria

On June 7, 2022, Buzzagogo, Inc. issued a nationwide recall of one lot of Allergy Bee Gone for Kids Nasal Swab Remedy after FDA testing revealed elevated levels of yeast and mold. The agency also warned the recalled swabs may contain the bacteria Bacillus cereus.

In healthy individuals, use of the recalled swabs could potentially cause illness such as bacteremia (bacteria in the blood) or non-invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (sinus infection). In people who are immunocompromised, use could lead to serious and potentially life-threatening illness such as sepsis, pneumonia, invasive fungal rhinosinusitis or disseminated fungal infection. In addition, Bacillus cereus can cause gastrointestinal illness, including vomiting and diarrhea. These illnesses are generally mild and self-limiting, but more serious and even lethal cases have occurred, and infants, young children, and others with weakened immune systems may be more at risk for severe forms of these illnesses.

Allergy Bee Gone for Kids Nasal Swab Remedy (see product photos) contains a combination of homeopathic ingredients and Manuka honey. It was distributed nationwide to wholesale distributors, retail stores and online on Amazon.com, as well as the company web site. It is packaged in individual tubes for topical nasal application and can be identified by the following:

  • Lot #: 2006491
  • Expiration date: 8/2024
  • UPC code: 860002022116.

Consumers who purchased affected lots should stop using the product, discard any remaining product and contact the company at recall@buzzagogo.com for a full refund.
