Omega 3 Supplements Recalled Due to Undeclared Drug Ingredients

On May 28, 2022, Latin Foods Market issued a voluntary recall of one lot of Artri King Reforzado con Ortiga y Omega 3 tablets after FDA laboratory analysis found the presence of undeclared diclofenac and dexamethasone.

Diclofenac is an anti-inflammatory drug that can cause serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke, as well as bleeding, ulceration, and fatal tears of the stomach and intestines, or liver toxicity. Consumption of undeclared dexamethasone may lead to severe and serious adverse events such as adrenal suppression, a disorder in which the adrenal glands do not produce enough hormones, and other adverse events can lead to death. The drug ingredients may also interact with other medications and significantly increase the risk of adverse events.

In April 2022, the FDA warned consumers not to use other Artri brand products which were also found to contain diclofenac and other drugs.

Recalled Artri King Reforzado con Ortiga y Omega 3 (see product images), is promoted to reduce pain and inflammation associated with arthritis and osteoarthritis. It was distributed nationwide through online sales and in retail stores. The product is packaged in 100-count tablets per bottle within a cardboard carton and can be identified by:

  • Lot number: 334 21
  • UPC: 7 501031 111138

People who have been using the recalled product should consult with their healthcare provider about how to safely discontinue use, as suddenly stopping diclofenac and dexamethasone can have serious adverse effects. Latin Foods Market is notifying all customers who ordered the product online in writing, instructing them to discard all recalled products.
