New Green Nutrition Warned by FDA After Hidden Steroid Found in Product

On October 26, 2026, the FDA issued a Warning Letter to New Green Nutrition Inc. after laboratory testing found undeclared dexamethasone in Qu Feng Huo Luo Dan, a product promoted for conditions including arthritis, sciatica, and other muscle and joint problems. The agency also stated in its Warning that other products sold by the company, including Pearl Eye Drops, Japan Reishi Mushroom Powder, and Shu Jin Huo Xue Wan, were promoted with drug claims, which are not permitted for dietary supplements.

Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid medication used to reduce inflammation. FDA warned that undisclosed exposure can pose serious risks because the drug can suppress the immune system and may cause high blood sugar, muscle damage, and mental health problems. Because dexamethasone was not declared on the label, consumers could use the product without knowing they were taking a steroid medication.

In addition, the FDA warned that Pearl Eye Drops, Japan Reishi Mushroom Powder, and Shu Jin Huo Xue Wan were promoted with claims that caused them to be marketed as drugs without FDA approval. For example, Japan Reishi Mushroom Powder was promoted with statements it could affect metabolism, circulation, digestion, endocrine function, fatigue, sleep, and immune function.

New Green Nutrition was instructed to respond to the FDA within 15 business days with the steps taken to correct the violations and prevent them from recurring.
