I am looking into info about a product with Acacia Senegal fiber called Heather's Tummy Fiber for IBS and chronic constipation. It is a prebiotic and has helped some people when taking correct dosage. Does anyone have info about this product? Testing, etc. I have not taken this product yet.

Heather's Tummy Fiber is one of the supplements that has been most helpful in controlling my symptoms. It does not cause gas or bloating. I take it daily mixed in a morning smoothy and sometimes use it in cooking to thicken sauces. I've been doing much better since I started taking it regularly (several years now). I don't know anything about the testing of it or any other brand, but Acacia fiber has been consumed for centuries. I have no stake in Heather's company, but I continue to buy that brand because other brands of Acacia fiber I've tried have not been as good in texture, taste, or providing relief for my GI symptoms.

I have celiac disease and IBS. I have an MS in naturopathic nutrition. I try to always use natural remedies if possible. I have had the Alcat test for food sensitivities and altering my diet to eliminate foods I was sensitive to helped a lot. I also use the peppermint supplement IBgard which is helpful, but I was still waking up every morning with intestinal pain. I decided to try Restore - and I always use the lowest effective dose of any supplement so started cautiously with the Restore. I did the recommended 1 tsp 3 times the first day and then decided to wait to see what the results were. I did still have intestinal pain the next morning but my bowel movement was more regular and I was less constipated. The following day I had no -pain at all and still was more regular and just felt better. I was encouraged with the good results so took 1 tsp the 3rd day and still felt much better than I had been. I am now taking 1 tsp every few days and continuing to feel better than I have in 18 years. I apparently am good with a much smaller dose than recommended and plan to keep using Restore. I have no financial interest in the company, I just wanted to share my positive results.

Hi Carol - Thank you for sharing your experience with this.

After being on strong antibiotics for diverticulitis a few years ago, I have suffered from gas and loose stools daily. I tried various diets and probiotic and nothing seemed to help. I saw a bottle of Restore at my local grocery store and decided to give it a try. After about a month of taking about half the recommended amount, my symptoms have totally cleared up. Don't know why it works, but it seems to help. I haven't changed my diet at all.

I started taking this while I was two months into a Candida diet, and was eating very clean and low-antigen, and also taking humic and fulvic acid and essentially really working a program to restore my health. Yet I still had gas and bloating every day, which I've had for at least 20 years. Within about 3 weeks, the gas and bloating were essentially gone. And now, as long as I don't eat sugar, dairy, and a couple of other things, it's like it's virtually gone. It was recommended to me by a functional medicine doctor. I've rarely had the experience of taking a single supplement and having an obvious and dramatic resolution of a symptom, so I'm super happy about this. I wish there were published studies, but it does seem to be a problem that if you can't patent something, then third-party research doesn't get done.

I started taking Restore daily about a month ago, due to a concern for intermittent diarrhea which had been going on for about three years. It has helped significantly. It was actually recommended by my wife's functional medicine doctor for her leaky gut, and she believes it has improved her condition as well. I would love to see some publicly available research on this, but for the two of us, the anecdotal evidence is that it works! And I have no interest in the company whatsoever!

I have had rectal cancer which required chemo, radiation, an ostomy and a reversal. For the first 18 months after the ostomy reversal, I had a terrible time trying to achieve some regularity even though I tried a myriad of things. About 8 week ago, I added Restore and I feel like I have gotten so much closer to a healthier normal digestive tract. I also started dreaming strange dreams! I suffered from a very slow gut and Restore seems to have vitalized it.

I have no financial interest in Restore. I am making these comments simply because it has helped more than any other product that I tried to get my gut to return to a more normal status before the cancer diagnosis.
