WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK — OCTOBER 30, 2007 — ConsumerLab.com reported today that its tests of magnesium supplements revealed one product to contain only 46.4% of its claimed amount of the essential mineral, despite boasting a "GMP" (Good Manufacturing Practices) seal on its label. None of the products were contaminated with lead — a problem identified in two supplements in ConsumerLab.com's previous review magnesium supplements in 2005. Over $200 million of magnesium supplements are sold annually in the U.S. according to Nutrition Business Journal. Magnesium supplements can help prevent migraine, menstrual pain, and magnesium deficiency. Certain forms of magnesium are key ingredients in popular laxatives.

Also listed are three products similar to ones that passed but sold under different brand names.
