Alistrol Health Inc. Warned Over Health Claims on Products

On June 26, 2012, the FDA issued a warning letter to Alistrol Health Inc. for making product statements on the company’s websites that constitute drug claims. As a result, the FDA has designated the following Alistrol products, which have been marketed like supplements, as unapproved drugs: Alistrol, CLE Vitamin D3, Naavudi, and Depression Fighters.

Alistrol contains garlic seed extract and was promoted to help regulate blood pressure and break down cholesterol. CLE Vitamin D3 was promoted for the treatment of high blood pressure, autoimmune disease, and cancer.

Naavudi contains epicatechin, a component of green tea, and was promoted for the control of blood sugar levels and diabetes.

Depression Fighters contains a blend of herbs, including St. John’s Wort, and was marketed for the treatment of depression.
