Smoothie Blends Recalled Due to Potential Listeria Contamination

On January 18, 2015, Inventure Foods, Inc. issued a recall of RADER FARMS Fresh Start Smoothie Blend, Fresh Start Sunrise Refresh Fusion, and Fresh Start Daily Power Fusion, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. In women who are pregnant, Listeria monocytogenes can cause miscarriage and stillbirths. Infection with Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Recalled Rader Farms Fresh Start Smoothie Blend (48 oz.) was distributed at Costco stores in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan of Canada. Recalled Fresh Start Sunrise Refresh Fusion and Fresh Start Daily Power Fusion (35 oz.) products were distributed in Walmart stores in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. They can be identified by the following:
