Maker of Arthritis Supplement Warned for Manufacturing Violations, Drug Claims

On June 17, 2015, the FDA issued a warning letter to Desert Stream, Inc., following a facility inspection which found the company's products, including Arthritis Discomforts, to be adulterated because they were prepared, packed, or held under conditions that violate Current Good Manufacturing Practices for dietary supplements.

These violations include failure to establish and follow written procedures for the responsibilities of the quality control operations, and failure to conduct at least one appropriate test or examination to verify the identity of any component that is a dietary ingredient prior to its use, as required by federal regulations.

In addition, the FDA warned that the name of the product, Arthritis Discomforts, is a drug claim.
