Company Ordered to Stop Making and Selling Supplements

On August 4, 2015, a federal court ordered a permanent injunction against dietary supplement company Atrium Inc., and two companies under the same ownerhship, Aspen Group Inc., Nutri-Pak of Wisconsin Inc. The injuction requires the companies to stop manufacturing and selling dietary supplements and requires Atrium to destroy all dietary supplements that are still in their possession under FDA supervision.

The FDA's complaint states that an inspection of the company found numerous violations of current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations including failure to properly identify ingredients used in certain dietary supplements and failure to properly manufacture and label dietary supplements.

The FDA issued Atrium a warning letter in 2012, citing numerous other manufacturing violations.

Supplement brands manufactured by Atrium and its other companies include Chole-Sterin, Di-Acid Stim, Ocu-Comp, and Super-Flex; Aspen brand Flexile-Plus; and Nutri-Pak brands Glucobiotic Supreme and Ocu-Comp.

In order to re-open, Atrium Inc., will have to hire an independent expert to determine whether the company has complied with manufacturing regulations, and receive permission to resume operations from the FDA.
