Seller of Cold and Flu Supplements, "SuperFood" & More Warned by FDA

On October 30, 2018, the FDA issued a warning letter to American Botanical Pharmacy following a review of the company's website (www.herbdoc.com) and Facebook page, which found statements made about some of its products to be drug claims.

For example, its Dr. Schulze's Cold & Flu Herbal was promoted with statements such as "Use two, three or up to six bottles a day, whatever it takes to STOP that cold or flu DEAD in its tracks," and "THE ULTIMATE WEAPON TO STOP A COLD OR FLU!"

(See ConsumerLab.com's Echinacea Supplements Review for tests of related products. Also see CL's Answer to the question: Do any supplements help prevent or treat a cold?)

The company's SuperFood Plus was promoted with statements such as "Healed From Dementia, Alzheimers [sic], Depression, and Anxiety!" and "My daughter introduced SuperFood Plus to me. I started taking it in May. I was amazed with the benefits I got from it. I... am no longer diabetic."

(See ConsumerLab.com's Greens and Whole Foods Powders, Pills and Drinks Review for tests of related products.)

In addition, some of the company's products were found to be misbranded because some of the information on the labels was not listed correctly, as required by federal regulations.
