High Levels of Lead Found in Chinese Herbal Supplements

On May 2, 2019, Life Rising Corporation issued a recall Life Rising Holder-W Holder Warmer capsules, Life Rising NECK-ND Neck Clear capsules, and HoliCare Metabolism Cleansing (MET-CLS) tablets after FDA testing found high levels of lead in samples of the products.

Exposure to lead, even at low levels, is associated with neurological impairment, and in children, learning disabilities and lower IQ scores. Lead can accumulate in the body over time. Symptoms of lead toxicity include abdominal pain, headache, changes in blood pressure, dizziness, kidney and brain damage.

The recall includes all products purchased before May 2, 2019 of the Life Rising Holder-W Holder Warmer capsules and Life Rising NECK-ND Neck Clear capsules and lot number T81171040 of the HoliCare Metabolism Cleansing (MET-CLS) tablets. The products were distributed mostly in Chicago-area retail stores and a limited number of products were distributed through mail order.

Consumers who have purchased these products should not use them and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Other Life Rising products were recalled in 2016 due to lead contamination.
