BIOTA Biosciences Recalls Injectable CBD and Curcumin Products
On May 20, 2020, BIOTA Biosciences LLC issued a recall of five lots of three injectable products because they were marketed without FDA approval. The products, Cannabidiol (CBD) Complex, Curcumin Complex, and Cannabidiol + Curcumin Injectables, are also misbranded because their labels do not have appropriate directions for use.
The FDA warned BIOTA Biosciences last month for selling unsafe products and stated that injectable CBD and curcumin products "can pose a serious risk of harm to users because they are delivered directly into the bloodstream and bypass many of the body's natural defenses against toxic ingredients, toxins, or dangerous organisms that can lead to serious and life-threatening conditions such as septicemia or sepsis."
The recalled injectable products were distributed nationwide and can be identified by the following:

- Cannabidiol(CBD) Complex, 50 mg. Vial size 10 mL. Lot 10102019P. Expiration date: October 10, 2021
- Curcumin Complex, 4 mg. Vial size 10 mL. Lot 2H071219CCD. Expiration date: July 12, 2021
- Curcumin Complex, 50 mg. Vial size 10 mL. Lot 0712019CCD. Expiration date: July 12, 2021
- Cannabidiol + Curcumin, 50 mg. Vial size 10 mL. Lot 10102019PC. Expiration date: October 10, 2021
