Silver Cannot Be Promoted to Prevent or Treat COVID-19

On October 30, 2020, the FDA issued a warning letter to Spartan Enterprises Inc. dba Watershed Wellness Center for selling the silver product Dissolve BioActive Silicate with unsupported claims that it can treat coronavirus (COVID-19).

Dissolve BioActive Silicate was promoted with statements such as "Silver kills all viruses including COVID19" and "Will silver, this kind of silver, kill that virus? Well yes! Silver will kill that virus. It will kill any virus, any bacteria, yeast, mold, and fungus, nothing can survive it. So, this means when you take this, the virus will be killed, well it might kill some of it."

The FDA has previously stated: "There currently are no vaccines, pills, potions, lotions, lozenges or other prescription or over-the-counter products available to treat or cure coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)."

The agency instructed the company to send an email to COVID-19-Task-Force-CDER@fda.hhs.gov within 48 hours of receipt of the warning, describing the specific steps it has taken to correct these violations.
