FDA Warns Seller of Essential Oils
On March 12, 2021, the FDA issued a warning letter to Ravenscroft Apothecary, Inc. DBA Ravenscroft Escentials following a review of the company's websites by the FDA and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) which found the company was promoting the products AIR PURIFY AROMAMIST, HEALER's CHAI AROMATEA & BREATH DROPS, ELEVATION OF MIND AROMAMIST, and ROSE FREQUENCY TONGUE TINCTURE with unsupported claims that they can treat coronavirus (COVID-19).
The FDA has previously stated: "There currently are no vaccines, pills, potions, lotions, lozenges or other prescription or over-the-counter products available to treat or cure coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)."
Ravenscroft Apothecary products were promoted with statements such as "THE 5 BEST ESSENTIAL OILS FOR CORONAVIRUS" and "Essential oil benefits of lemongrass are tremendous when fighting viruses."
The FDA instructed the company to send an email to COVID-19-Task-Force-CDER@fda.hhs.gov within 48 hours of receipt of the warning, describing the specific steps it has taken to correct these violations.
