Seller of Vision Supplements Warned by FDA

On March 19, 2021, the FDA issued a warning letter to Lipotriad LLC following a review of the company's websites, which found statements made about the company's products Lipotriad Visionary, Lipotriad Adult 50+, Lipotriad Dry Eye, and Lipotriad Vision Support Plus to be drug claims.

Lipotriad Adult 50+ was promoted with statements such as "DOUBLE THE LUTEIN (10mg) & 2.5mg ZEAXANTHIN: Our Adult 50+ Formula contains double the lutein when compared to leading Adult 50+ Eye Vitamin Formulas. These ingredients protect the macula and filter out harmful blue rays."

See ConsumerLab's Vision Supplements Review (with Lutein and Zeaxanthin) for tests of related products.

Lipotriad Visionary was promoted with statements such as "In addition supplementing with fish oil has led to a lower risk of heart disease and a reduction of chronic inflammation that can lead to a variety of serious diseases, including cancer and stroke."

See ConsumerLab's Fish Oil, Krill Oil, and Algal Oil Omega-3 (DHA & EPA) Supplements Review for tests of related products.

Lipotriad Dry Eye was promoted with statements such as "Recommended for:... Dry Eye Support."

In addition, the Lipotriad products were found to be misbranded because they do not contain adequate directions for safe use, as required by federal regulations.
