FDA Warns Two Sellers of Homeopathic Eye Drops

On August 25, 2025, the FDA issued Warning Letters to Supply Center USA and Homeopathic Educational Services (dba Homeopathic Family Medicine) following reviews of the companies’ websites, which found statements about certain "homeopathic" eye drop products to be drug claims.

According to the FDA’s Warning Letter to Supply Center USA, its eyedrops, including Similasan Allergy Eye Relief, Similasan Complete Eye Relief, Similasan Computer Eye Relief, and Boiron Optique 1 Eye Irritation Relief were promoted with statements such as, “temporarily relieve minor allergy symptoms such as... itching... burning... redness,” and “soothes red, dry, itchy, gritty, burning or tired eyes.”

The FDA’s Warning Letter to Homeopathic Family Medicine stated that the agency considered statements made on the company’s website about their eyedrops, Cineraria Maritima Eye Drops to be drug claims. In addition, The FDA stated that the company’s eyedrops are labeled as a homeopathic drug with "active ingredients measured in homeopathic strengths," and therefore “may not be introduced or delivered for introduction into interstate commerce without an approved application from FDA.” The letter stated that there is no FDA-approved application for the eye drops.

Both companies must respond to the FDA in writing within 15 working days of receiving the letters, describing the specific steps taken to address these violations.
