Ground Ginger Recalled for Lead Contamination
On October 7, 2025, Eagle Spice and Extract Co., Inc. recalled Eagle Spice Ground Ginger (16 oz.) because some of the ground ginger contains elevated levels of lead.

Lead exposure, even at very low levels, can cause neurological impairment. In children, this may lead to learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and reduced IQ. Adults may experience abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, changes in blood pressure, or kidney and liver dysfunction. Chronic exposure has been linked to damage to the kidneys, liver, and bones.
Recalled Eagle Spice Ground Ginger was distributed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, and can be identified by the following:
- Product name: Eagle Spice Ground Ginger (16 oz.).
- Lot: 24907EGGG.
- Best used by: 01/27/2028.
Consumers should stop using the product immediately and dispose of it.
