Rheumacare Capsules Recalled Due to Lead
On December 22, 2025, Handelnine Global Limited (d.b.a. Navafresh), recalled certain lots of Rheumacare Capsules manufactured by Virgo UAP Pharma Pvt. Ltd. because they were found to contain elevated levels of lead. Tests conducted by the FDA found the capsules to contain up to 11,100 mcg/g of lead, which exceeds concentrations of lead found by the agency in multiple brands of cinnamon over the past year that led to numerous recalls.
(See ConsumerLab’s article about lead contamination in supplements. Also see our Joint Health Supplements Review, which includes testing for heavy metals such as lead, and our Top Picks.)
Lead exposure, even at very low levels, can cause neurological impairment. In children, this may induce learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and reduced IQ. Adults may experience abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, changes in blood pressure, or kidney and liver dysfunction. Chronic exposure has been linked to damage to the kidneys, liver, and bones.
Recalled Rheumacare Capsules are marketed as “Pure Ayurvedic” herbal capsules for joint pain relief. They are packaged in white plastic bottles with a white and blue label. and werewere distributed nationwide through the Navafresh website. They can be further identified by the following:
- Product name: Rheumacare Capsules
- Manufactured by: Virgo UAP Pharma Pvt. Ltd
- Lots: CAM040, CALO79-N
