Sea Moss Gel Superfood Recalled Due to Possible Health Risk
On January 9, 2026, Diva Fam Inc. of Los Angeles, California announced a voluntary recall of all lots and flavors of its True Sea Moss Sea Moss Gel Superfood (always italicize product names) products due to lack of required regulatory authorization and temperature monitoring records for pH-controlled food products, which can increase the risk of microbial growth, including organisms that can product toxins that can cause botulism. (See ConsumerLab’s article about the health benefits and safety of sea moss and carrageenan.)
Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning. Symptoms include general weakness, muscle weakness, dizziness, double-vision, abdominal tension, constipation, trouble with speaking or swallowing, and difficulty in breathing. People experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention. It can lead to life-threatening paralysis of breathing muscles requiring support with a breathing machine (ventilator) and intensive care. The products were distributed nationwide through the company’s website, select retail locations, and other distribution channels. The recall includes all flavors, sizes, and batch numbers of True Sea Moss Sea Moss Gel Superfood products packaged in 16 fl. oz. glass jars manufactured prior to January 9, 2026, including:
