FTC Sends $26.7 Million to Consumers Enrolled in Natural Product “Billing Scheme”

On December 9, 2025, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced it is sending payments totaling more than $27.6 million to more than 1.2 million consumers who were enrolled in plans that repeatedly shipped and charged them for CBD- and keto-related health products without their knowledge.

The FTC filed a complaint against Legion Media, LLC; KP Commerce, LLC; Pinnacle Payments, LLC; Sloan Health Products, LLC; and their principals, alleging that the companies charged more than the advertised price and enrolled buyers in recurring subscription programs without their consent, resulting in charges for products they never intended or agreed to purchase. According to the FTC, some consumers were also charged unauthorized recurring debit and credit card charges after agreeing to pay for shipping a “free gift.”

The companies agreed in September of 2024 to settle the charges, requiring the defendants to shut down the enrollment plans and forfeit assets valued at about $40 million. The settlement order also permanently bans the defendants from engaging in the alleged illegal conduct.

As part of the settlement, the FTC sent checks and PayPal payments between December 9 and December 18, 2025, to 1,215,337 consumers who were affected by the scheme. Recipients who received checks should cash them within 90 days, while PayPal payments must be redeemed within 30 days. The FTC also reminded consumers in its news release that the agency never requires people to pay money or provide account information to receive a refund.
