Person pouring Daily Synbiotic capsules from container into other hand

Answer:

Daily Synbiotic (DS-01) by Seed Health is a branded synbiotic (i.e., a combination of prebiotic and probiotic) that is promoted as delivering probiotic strains to the lower small intestine "to support systemic benefits, including digestive, heart, skin, and gut health."

While some strains of probiotics in this product have shown benefit for various conditions, the potential benefits of DS-01 compared with placebo or other probiotics have not been reported in any published clinical studies — making it too soon to know if it does what it claims or is better than other products — although this product is being investigated among patients with IBS with constipation and has been evaluated for improving the microbiota composition of the gut following antibiotic therapy (results not yet published).

For details about what ConsumerLab found when testing DS-01, including how it compares to other probiotics, see the What CL Found section of the Probiotic Supplements Review.

Seed Health also markets Pediatric Daily Synbiotic (PDS-08) for children and adolescents. The product is labeled as containing, per serving, 9 probiotic strains providing 20 billion viable probiotic cells along with 5 grams of prebiotic fiber (ConsumerLab has not tested this product to confirm). A clinical study found that this product might be beneficial for increasing bowel movements among children with constipation, but additional research is needed to confirm.
