Zazzee Naturals Warned for MSM Eye Drop Claims
For example, Liquid MSM Drops were promoted with statements such as, “ALL-NATURAL SUPPORT: Liquid MSM, when applied directly to the eye, has been shown to soften the membranes of the eye, allowing them to be more permeable, so that nutrients can pass through and provide nutrients to heal damage to the eyes. MSM Drops not only softens tissue, but repairs damaged membranes, equalizes pressures, clears up red spots and broken vessels, helps remove blemishes and other tissue particles.” and “Benefits of Liquid MSM Include: Reduces Joint Pain . . . Lowers Inflammation . . .”
The FDA also stated in its letter that it considers these products to be “new drugs” because they are not recognized as safe and effective for their intended use.
The company must respond to the FDA in writing within 15 days of receipt of the warning explaining the specific steps taken to address these violations.
Consumers and healthcare providers can report any adverse reactions to the FDA’s MedWatch Voluntary Reporting Program.
