Salmonella Outbreak Prompts Recall of Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Super Greens

On October 31, 2025, the FDA announced a recall of all lots of Member’s Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powder after the supplement was linked to a multistate outbreak of Salmonella illness.

Illness from Salmonella typically begins 12 to 72 hours after ingestion and may cause diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems are at greater risk for severe infection.

A joint investigation by the FDA and CDC traced the contamination to a single lot of moringa leaf powder supplied to the United States by Vallon Farm Direct PVT LTD of Jodhpur, India, which was found to contain a specific Salmonella strain (Salmonella Richard). Analysis of an open sample of Member’s Mark Super Greens from a consumer who became ill also matched the Salmonella strain found in the moringa leaf powder ingredient. However, be aware that other products containing moringa leaf from the same supplier lot could be affected.

Eleven illnesses associated with the outbreak have been reported to date. According to the CDC, 9 out of 10 affected people who were interviewed reported eating powdered dietary supplements. Six of these people reported eating Member’s Mark Super Greens Powder, and three others reported consuming other products containing moringa leaf powder, although these other products were not named. Consumers should not eat or handle recalled Member’s Mark Super Greens powder and should discard it or return it to the place of purchase. Any containers or surfaces that came into contact with the powder should be washed and sanitized thoroughly.
