On April 27, 2026, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company recalled 13 Ghirardelli powdered beverage mixes due to possible Salmonella from a contaminated milk source.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and people with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection can lead to more serious illness if the organism enters the bloodstream.

Recalled Ghirardelli cocoa and beverage mixes (see product photos) were packaged in large quantities intended for food service and institutional customers, but some may have been sold directly to consumers through e-commerce platforms:
