Testing for Supplements Before Going to Market
Question: Do companies have to test supplements before they are sold?
Answer: Under the law, manufacturers of vitamin, mineral, and other supplement are required to test the identity and quality of ingredients that go into their products, but some don't. The FDA issues Warning Letters to companies caught not complying. These letters get posted in the Warnings section on ConsumerLab.com.
