Lead Found in Another Ground Cinnamon

On November 8, 2025, the FDA added Venzu Traders Cinnamon Powder to its list of 19 brands of ground cinnamon found to contain elevated levels of lead. Consumers should not consume this product and should discard it immediately.

Exposure to lead, even at very low levels, can cause neurological impairment, particularly in children, leading to learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and lower IQ. Adults may experience abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, and kidney or liver dysfunction. Chronic exposure is associated with damage to the kidneys, liver, and bones. Prolonged exposure to lead-contaminated foods may increase blood lead levels, especially in young children and pregnant individuals.

Venzu Traders Cinnamon Powder (Venzu Traders LLC), batch number 202102, was found to contain 3 mcg/g of lead, which is equivalent to about 6 micrograms of lead per teaspoon. Retail locations where this product was sold are pending FDA confirmation.
