Container of natural appetite suppressant supplement with measuring tape and scale in background

Answer:

Some supplements may suppress appetite by causing a sense of fullness when they expand and take up volume in the stomach (such as glucomannan and psyllium). Others may suppress appetite through the central nervous system, likely due to their caffeine content (such as green tea extracts). In addition, it has been speculated that the herb Gymnema may suppress appetite by influencing taste perception.

Small, short-term studies typically funded by supplement companies suggest that some of these ingredients can modestly aid in weight loss, but other studies have reported no benefit, and it is not clear if any supplement helps when used long-term. Also, there are risks associated with the use of some of these supplements, and ConsumerLab.com has found that many products do not contain the amounts of ingredients claimed on labels — particularly when an ingredient receives media attention as an appetite suppressant or weight loss aid, and companies rush to sell it.

"K3 Spark Mineral"), and spinach, as well as foods such as peanuts.

One of my ADHD symptoms is the inability to ignore stimuli that the average person can set aside in their mind. So for me, hunger and appetite are probably a bigger issue than the average person. I used to take 5 or 6 vitamin/mineral supplements including multivitamin with my lunch or a little while before. And that made a big difference in my appetite for the rest of the day. Not perfect, but much reduced and less of a distraction.

Hey! That’s interesting…care to share supplements othe than the multi vit? Also if you have to drink a fair amount of water prior to eating, once you add the food you stomach may feel full? I’m going to try that regularly & see if it helps

Lactobacillus Gasseri along with a high fiber (no meat) eating pattern contributed to a 20# weight loss for me. I had been struggling for years to lose weight and it was a relief to see the pounds come off. PubMed has research on the use of Lactobacillus Gasseri for weight reduction and loss of visceral fat.

Do you have a specific brand you’ve found most effective?

Best appetite suppressant I've found: lupini beans! They are low fat, low carb, high protein, high fiber, and tasty. And they really do work to suppress the appetite.

I think apples, pears, grapefruit, oranges, salads with olive oil, & vinegar work best. But maybe because I don’t have weight problem &:stay clear,of,pizza, bread, cake. My son struggles but does stick to my diet

Lupini beans: You can often find them in jars in the Italian foods section, or get Brami's pouches of seasoned lupini beans. (They aren't typically used like dry beans, because they must be soaked for 2 weeks after cooking.) Lupin flour is also available. Lupina brand is my favorite for lupin flour. I cook it up like grits.
