Probiotics For Yeast Infections
Question: Do probiotics really help prevent or treat vaginal yeast infections?
Answer: Taken orally, certain probiotic strains have been found to reduce bacteria and yeast known to cause infection caused by overgrowth of these organisms in the vagina, possibly helping prevent infections, although one study found no benefit when used during antibiotic therapy. Oral probiotics have not been found to reduce existing yeast infections. There is mixed evidence on whether probiotics in suppository form can help.
